Even though Marvel has benefited greatly from the multiversal possibilities presented by visiting other worlds, we haven’t typically seen it—at least not on screen—in the distant galaxy of Star Wars. That all changes with the release of the new comic animated “four-piece” Lego animated special, Star Wars: Rebuild The Galaxy, which at last allows some really interesting concepts to take center stage. Including, indeed! – Jar Jar Darth. View the initial teaser here:
Rebuild The Galaxy, which was conceived by Showrunners and Executive Producers Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, chronicles what transpires when Sig Greebling (played by Gaten Matarazzo), a regular adolescent nerf-herder, unintentionally finds a potent relic from a secret Jedi temple. The consequences throw him into a bizarre and perverse universe in which heroes are villains, good folks are evil, and everything hinges on Sig’s realization that he is the one who can put everything back together.
There are similarities to both The Lego Movie and multiverse stories, but there is also a potential for some amusement. Tony Revolori, Bobby Moynihan, Marsai Martin, Michael Cusack, Ahmed Best, and Mark Hamill are among the other voice actors.
Disney+ will debut all four sections of Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy on September 13.
